Title: How the Radium Girls Forced Workplace Safety Reforms
Post by: Marlin on Aug 10, 2025, 01:14
This article seems to focus on New Jersey but there was one in Ottawa Illinois. In the 70s and 80s there was a clean-up effort that would work until the state ran out of money each year then continue the next. I remember seeing monitors in news/documentaries following storm drains from the plant. I assume it has been cleaned up some time ago. Argonne national lab did periodic body counts on the women to track dose and gather information.
