Being the history buff you are, at some point you might think about expanding this list to include plants on the drawing boards (mostly unnamed), e.g., FP&L - South Dade, DPC - P-90 (2 sites - 1 NC, 1 SC).  And those that otherwise went away, e.g., SCE&G - Summer 2, PG&E - Bodega Bay.  Etc.!

You might want to include those plants which were operational, and later, for political reasons, shut down, i.e., Ranco Seco (CA) and Trojan (OR).

How did I get labeled "moderate user" since, although I read frequently, this was the first time I jumped in?  (Or as SloGo would say "eye ant sad nothin".

Rancho SEco didn't shut down for political reasons. The plant was a lemon that had already been thgrough one beyond design basis transient, and it was part of a public power district that was losing money due to a very poor running reactor. It was financial that shut it down.

February 2006, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company selected the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station near Jenkinsville, South Carolina, as the site for 2 new AP1000's. COL to be submitted October 2007.

Actually Summer should appear on both lists!  Since the new Summer 2 will not and can not use the Aux Bldg space that was built for the original Summer 2 and then became a dream of a valve, IX, & filter space for the folks there.  Blue & Jack loved to brag about it and show it off to all who would visit!

    99 canceled plants, just think how much work and what pay rates could be if it wasn't for 3 mile IS, and of course thieves.

Callaway would be 2 units, they had most of the inplant support equipment and sold it for pennies on the dollar in the eightys', even had paid for the second cooling tower but chose to eat the loss and put the 2nd unit on the back burner.

The 'thievery' was horrendous til the second site manager(UE) came in. he had most of the 'waste' materials buried on site rather than see the hoarders get them.  I don't remember his name, but his face and booming voice were unmistakable.

I just hope for the sake of our industry it does not repeat this time around with the next batch of plants.  The old ones that built the last units are at retirement age now, if not already out.  And for the most part, the new kids to contracting have tight belts.

Can one of you experienced people elaborate on the "thieves" comments? I presume that you meant that there were people that stole valuable property from the construction sites, but are there any interesting stories about this phase of the end of the boom?
