1  News and Discussions / Fallen: / Re: Mark Anthony on: Jan 21, 2015, 06:03
The passing of Mark Anthony hit me pretty hard.  As I tried to explain to my wife; there are members of my nuclear family that are closer to me than my biological family.  Mark, was such a person.  Coworker, friend, and brother, I will never forget the good times we had on the road (and in vegas).  There will always be a seat on my boat with your name on it.  DFR my brother.
2  News and Discussions / Fallen: / Re: Jack (John) Horne passed 23 November, 2014 on: Dec 01, 2014, 06:30
Jack Horne was more than just my coworker, he was my friend.  RIP my friend.
3  News and Discussions / Fallen: / John Ertmer on: Oct 29, 2012, 11:34
It is with a sad heart that inform you that John Ertmer passed away on Oct 7, 2012.  He was working at Davis Besse at the time and passed away in his hotel room.  John was a QA\QC field lead.  He worked at DC Cook and Hanford to name a few places.  John leaves behind his wife Betty, to whom I want to give my sincere condolences.  He always had a smile, and I will miss telling him my fishing stories (he always pretended to believe me).  Rest in peace my brother.

6  Reference, Questions and Help / Polls / Re: Do House-Jobs Make You Old? on: Feb 21, 2008, 03:49
Do house-jobs make you old.  NO.  i started as a house tech then hit the road for 20 plus years and now have been a house mouse for 6 years.  i don't feel old (well maybe a little) and i don't look old.

i am not a recruiter but those of you that have been on the road for 20 plus years and are looking to settle down, you should look at Hanford.  this is a great place to retire from.

Sequoyah, palo verde, san onofre, palisades.  there are no bad house techs its just that these 4 plants are a notch above the other 28 plants i have been to.

8  Reference, Questions and Help / Polls / Re: Day shift or Night shift on: Nov 01, 2006, 05:21
during 21 years of outages i did dayshift twice. (not by choice) niteshift people (house and roadtechs) seems to treat each other more like family and that's very important when you are away from your real family.  have been in the DOE world now for the past 6 years and if is different.  i really do miss being on the road and all of my house tech friends and family.

9  Facility & Company Information / San Onofre (SONGS) / Re: San Onofre on: Mar 18, 2004, 02:48
San Onofre, WOW I really do miss that place.  I was there for 2 years working the Decommission of unit one and working the outages.  House people treated me with great respect.  So did the site coordinator.  when I was there we contractors still treated each other like family. (i know that's hard to believe) but we did.  Remember this my friends "don't sh_t in my kitchen".  When you go to a site you are in there kitchen.  if you help them keep a clean kitchen they won't feed you sh_t.
