is NPS close enough to charleston to ride a bike there?

Roll Tide

NPS is close enough to North Charleston to ride a bike. I would not actually ride a bike to Charleston from there without a police escort (since bicycles are forbidden on Interstates, and the other roads cross through some rough territory).

It's about 20 miles, which may or may not be your idea of a short ride.

20mi isnt bad. How rough are these areas? I ride through downtown baltimore everyday to go to work.

Roll Tide

Not as bad as Baltimore. Just not my idea of comfortable.

Im here at NNPTC now and this is the worst for biking...trust me....no where to go...I hear the CMC always complaining about it too...not to mention there have been people hit by the terrible drivers down here...i know of one that resulted in death. just something to think about.

The drivers here are no worse than Florida drivers, if that's any more reassuring.

My insurance went down when moving it from Orlando to Goose Creek.

I intend to get my bike up here soon, but yes, you constantly hear warnings about bikers getting hit.
