What do Nukes (and familly/ friends) drive?

Just a question that came to me all of a sudden.

2005 Ford Focus, 30 mpg or more. This is our third Focus, 1st was a lemon and Ford replaced it with another which we loved both for its performance on the road and off.

As some of you may remember our youngest daughter passed out at the wheel of this auto doing 70 mph on I-20 in Columbia back in 2004. She actually hit the guard rail, drove through a wooded area and flipped at least 3 times and landed upside down on the access road below the interstate. With the grace of God she suffered only minor injuries which include multiple stiches to her elbow, ear, and forehead and staples in the back of her head along with 3 compressed discs in her back. The car was not as fortunate.

She now drives a Chevy Malibu, but I bought another Focus.

Wife and I have had a variety of different cars.  I have owned and traveled with pickup trucks, Corvettes, even a classic 1968 Camaro.
I don't do the travel trailor thing so I can drive what I want.  I just bought an Infinity G35 sport coupe, fun to drive and gets pretty decent gas milage.  I am a car guy and I figure that if I have a job that takes me on the road away from my family for several weeks/year, I am going to at least have the car that I like.  Guess it is a little reward for myself.

P.S., We took over a lease to help out a family member about 6 months ago, it is a Chevy Equinox...Piece of junk!!!!  That is not to say that all Chevy's are junk, I have had a lot of good GM products.  Just a warning that this new economical SUV could be a vehicle that roadies might want but it is a piece of crap and even the service manager at the dealership where I take it routinely to get fixed says it is.

2003 F250 and 2001 Ford Focus.  The Focus is ok, apparently Ford got it dead on from 2002.5 on to the present.  The Focus had been a perennial C&D 10 best, though they typically displayed the now defunct SVT version at the award.

Momma Broadzilla drives a 2002 Trailblazer (First one off the truck and the first sold in Michigan). Dang thing is reliable as heck and the factory brakes lasted 101K miles.

I drive a red 1998 Plymouth Neon. Gets good gas mileage and since it doesn't have the engine of the trailblazer or my last couple cars I'm less prone to drive like a maniac, though I still do.

Thou I am not a nuke but a mommy of some soon to be nukes...here goes...2002 Kia Sportage...nice both on and off road...yeah I am a country girl that likes to kick up the mud. The boys will be driving a 1996 Ford Escort once I get it to SC for them. Can you say "ROAD TRIP"...watch out for me....

It depends on the day, mood, and need.  Lately I've been driving my wife's 2005 Neon and loving the mileage while she's been driving the '99 Town & Country that I usually drive.  When I need it, or the roads get too nasty I'll take my '95 Ram 1500 4X4 but I hate the gas bill, love the ride.  When I get it back roadworthy I'll be driving an '84 Dodge Rampage that I got from my Dad about 10 years ago.

It depends upon the function.

For work or towing its a supercharged 2002 Nissan Frontier 4X4 king cab.
For fun its a 1986 Nissan 300 ZX turbo.
When I'm working near home its a 1991 Honda CRX, 45+mpg is a very good thing.

LOL because I'm a predictable ornery old coot. My son drives a 1999 Black 4 Door Escort I bought him as sort of a consolation for moving down here the last month of his junior year and for his senior year. I figured it was the least I could do.

Wife took my 2006 Hemi 1500 Quad Cab and I got a 2006 Dakota V8 with 6 speed. Fun to drive but I need more cab room, ie diet for driver.

To all the posters....how about adding what you would like to drive....I know I love my car but it is not my dream car so to speak.

My dream...well not a car...and HD Hugger...black/purple preal. Not a lot of chrome...no bags. Now that the kids are not sucking up all the cash I am well on my way....I can just see me now...riding back to SC to see the kids...wind in my hair.

Well I would like to own/drive either a 1968 Jaguar XJ6 or 1967/68 Land Rover Station Wagon; but its like my grand-dad said once (when he asked me what type of car I wanted for college and I told him a Lamborghini) "People in hell want ice water too".

BTW I actually got a '69 VW411 which was only a few years old by then. Man, I wished I still owned that car... it was teal green and got the best gas mileage - $5 would run me for the week!!!

I have a 1999 Subaru Outback (dubbed "The Shaggin Wagon") and I love it!  I also have a 1982 convertible Rabbit, which is also alot of fun to drive.  Gets pretty decent gas mileage, too.  I'm looking at maybe getting a motorcycle... there is this suzuki SV650 that is for sale- totally tricked out and a screamin deal! 

As to what I would have if I could have anything... Tesla Roadsters are sooooo wicked!

I want my 1791 Pea Green Plymouth Valiant....goo she was sweet. Slant 6...3 on the tree. Sounded like a tank...Detroit Steel rumbling down the road. Loved to race that thing. 

Young pucks pull up to the stop light and I would burn them off the line...me with my twin car seats in the back. I never raced with they boys in the car but the carseats were always there!!

Sold it for something more practical....the guy totaled it 3 days later....

I drive a 2002 Focus.  It is not a sexy or prestigious car.  However, it is fun to drive, handles like a starfighter, gets decent (not spectacular) mileage.  The trunk is cavernous, and it doesn't cost much to insure.  It sure beats the hell out of corssing the country in a pickup that is longer and heavier and harder to park thatn an AMTRAK Metroliner.  Besides, I don't see the point in hauling around a bunch of atmosphere for 358 days evey year just to have it to haul a payload for the other 7.

I stopped driving foreign cars when I realized that I live, work, and pay taxes in the United States of America, and Honda, BMW, and Toyota are not going to give a damn if the US economy goes bankrupt.  I have fewer opportunities to buy American made goods all the time.  I'm going to buy American cars as long as they make them here.

Very respectable stance.  Consider however that Toyota directly employ's and indirectly creates (dealerships) somewhere in the range of 120,000 American jobs and produces over 1 million autos inside the US.  Also consider that for every auto worker there are typically 5 - 7 jobs created in other industry around where the plants operate.
They are currently the 4th largest "American" auto maker and growing every year.  GM and Ford continue to close plants and ramp up production in countries outside of the US and I won't even go into Chrysler's short commings.

Sorry, I can't help playing the devils advocate and I was raised by General Motors income.  I have always driven American cars until a recent Nissan (Infinity) purchase and continue to own an American 2nd car.  I wish they would manage their business's better and stop what seems to be an inevidable market take over by Toyota.

I will continue to own "American" made cars but common, even frickin' Hyundai has a 10 year/100,000 mile waranty!  GM was only 3years/36,000 miles up until recently and I have been screwed more than once by it.  My Infinity is good till 70K.

Sorry, this was a little off topic but it is a topic of passion with me probably due to growing up in an area that was ruined by GM's inability to manage their business and unions negotiating themselves right out of a job.  Different thread, I am done with my rant.
