HB Robinson - Lodging
« on: Aug 07, 2002, 09:17 »
There are about 4 or 5 motels in Hartsville proper (about 3 miles from the plant) - The Heart of Hartsville, The Landmark Inn, a Holiday Inn, and a couple of smaller units.  If you are staying for 3 months or more, your best bet is to rent a trailer near the plant.  You can get a double-wide for $325 a month, plus utilities.  There are also places in Darlington down the road about 10 miles, but they are mainly for race fans (over Labor Day weekend).

Johnson's landing opposite the plant on the lake..another place is-take a left on highway 151 from the plant, then 1/4 mile on the left is a place that rents spots..,,,,,.downtown Hartsville on 4th street,(which is highway 15),,there is a place to do your laundry, drop off, or do it yourself..it's safe.

I don't have Johnson's Landing number, but I do have a couple of others.  All are close to the plant, furthest being about 3 1/2 miles away.

Pinevilla       843-332-6751
Lake Robinson     843-332-1675
Brown     843-322-1766
Easterling Campground     843-332-9810

Can anyone tell me if Easterlings is still running the campground?  I've heard the new owners of the property are building, but when I called Mrs Easterling she said they have people in campers there now.  I'm hoping someone who lives in the area can shine some light on this for me.

Thanks  :)

I stayed at the Pinevilla that has already been mentioned, pulled in late after having drove from Comm. Peak...tried to stay quiet to not wake "other campers". It was very dark but a man met me with a flashlight and got me in to my site. You can imagine my surprise the next morning when i woke up and discovered I was the only one in "campground". And I had the place to myself the entire outage. Nice. Just a field across from the plant. If you don't need perks and want to save gas it works:-) mb

All the standard campgrounds around Hartsville are booked up now for the outage. I'm not sure about the Pinevilla Mobile Home lot but I haven't been able to get them to return my calls this week. I do know that there are some spots in a few of the camp grounds in Darlington (15 min from Hartsville). Mark Menasco (843-669-3398) has two spots with water, sewer, electric at Weekend Pit-Stop (1232 Indian Branch Road, Darlington). FYI, most of the spots in Darlington do not have sewer hook-ups because they cater to the race weekend crowd.

If anyone is looking for a storage facility close to the plant...try Midway Storage about a 1/2 mile from the plant on highway 151. Convenient enough to use year round. Very reasonable i thought....803-332-6084.
