FirstEnergy Corp., which owns  Davis-Besse  is planning to sell or close the plant and several others in 2017 or early 2018.

I wonder how many other plants will suddenly find their future operations uncertain due to their operating companies deciding to announce closures if they don't get a Quad Cities / Fitzpatrick / Clinton type helping hand from the hosting states? My concern is that the answer may be "quite a few".

Astonished. What's changed since 2014 when FE decided to spend $800M replacing SGs and completing the FLEX addition? Were they betting it would guarantee a later (already decided) sell? If it doesn't sell and FE pulls the plug are the rate payers going to have to eat that $800M?

Darn... why didn't I think of that? Just shows why I'm not qualified to be on a Board of Directors... but I am qualified to be bored of directors.

Like Red Gold says maybe First Energy is pulling a "Vandelay Industries".  I don't blame them.

Shutting down plants seems to be an epidemic as of late. Maybe we need to take a look at Hamster farming and wheel production plants for our future energy needs?
