The real ID act of 2005 has been delayed in enactment and enforcement for years and years but there is a new deadline for implementation, which includes nuclear plants, set for may 2025.
Without going into all the details, and potential extensions still lingering out there, the way this matters to nuclear workers is when you go through the nuclear in processing, only identification with the real ID identifier (usually a star) or a passport would be accepted. I realize people have their reasons for not getting the real Id license or identification card, but in those cases, you will need to provide a passport.
My only intent on this post is to give a heads up, and to share amongst your peers or halls, so folks have time to obtain the appropriate identification.
