Restoration of the NRX Reactor: The First Meltdown (1959)

In 1952, the first nuclear reactor runaway occurred at NRX in Canada, melting fuel and disabling the reactor. A major effort was undertaken to fix the reactor and bring it back online. Famously, this is the reactor that Jimmy Carter worked on when he was a young sailor in the Navy, sent by Captain Rickover.
