Expected salary range of $192,600 to $214,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

A highly experienced energy attorney, with a focus on gas transactions, who works independently and has major matter, team or client responsibilities as well as certain responsibilities for other attorneys on a project-specific/mentoring basis. Frequently supervises professional teams working on legal matters. Work generally involves handling matters of very substantial importance.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs as a specialist in the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and implementation of complex energy commodity transactions,
  • Provides technical and expert legal services to Constellation business units, primarily relating to gas and other energy transactions.
  • Drafts and negotiates a variety of agreements related to gas and other energy transactions, including enabling agreements (NAESB, EEI, ISDA).
  • Under little or no supervision, plans, conducts and supervises large and complex energy commodity transactions, including evaluating such transactions for both legal and business risks and advising clients accordingly.
  • Provides legal counsel to all levels of management, including senior management.
  • Provides leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support
  • Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside
  • Other projects / duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
  • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal or state law.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly ? both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5+ years? experience handling energy commodity transactional work, including gas and gas-related (biogas; RINs, LNG) transactions.
  • Experience working with business to properly structure complex energy commodity transactions.
  • Experience with physical and financial energy trading documentation, such as ISDA, NAESB and the EEI.
  • Experience with firm and interruptible transportation and storage agreements, asset management agreements and other basic transactional documentation such as non-disclosure agreements, secured transaction documentation and credit support instruments.
  • Experience with contract documentation for various emissions products.
