Expected salary range of $68,400 to $76,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Primary Purpose of Position

The Market Planning Analyst will be responsible for understanding energy market conditions, tracking and evaluating programs and regulations, and developing insightful forecasts of the impacts of key trends. The role will focus on evaluating the effects of energy demand, commodity prices, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and changes to the generation fleet in U.S. energy markets. The objective of the role is to prepare Constellation to compete in a rapidly changing business environment.


Primary Duties and Accountabilities

  • Identifies market drivers and ensuring these are incorporated into short and long-term forecasts.
  • Coordinates views of market developments with key stakeholders throughout Constellation.
  • Aligns research and analysis with Constellation's commercial and strategic focus
  • Works closely with other members of the Market Fundamental, Trading, Portfolio Management, Structuring, Public Policy, Sustainability, Risk, and other teams to ensure consistent and coordinated analysis
  • Research and access data on a variety of web sites and data bases.
  • Evaluate modeling results and have the ability to discuss results in a concise, lucid fashion
  • Work in a team setting on projects that develop analytics
  • Communicate emerging market dynamics to a wider commercial audience.
  • Run off the shelf and proprietary analytic models and customize them as needed, including Plexos.
  • Perform additional research responsibilities as required and participate in other fundamental and technical analysis projects.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • 1-year of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams ranging from individual contributors to multi-member groups
  • Strong research, writing and communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Comfort working with abstract concepts with limited guidance
  • Proven ability to apply outstanding mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Motivated to achieve results in a collaborative and rapidly evolving market

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assessing market impacts and exposure to production cost and economic modeling
  • Computer programming skills such as Python
