Electrical Builders, Inc. (EBI) is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support our work in the high-voltage utility and industrial sectors. This role is project-specific and field-based — ideal for professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and take pride in enforcing the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

You’ll be EBI’s on-site authority for weld inspections, working closely with project managers, client representatives, and skilled trades to ensure procedures are followed to the letter. Whether you’re reviewing WPS documentation, evaluating structural welds, or supporting project closeout, you’ll play a key role in delivering work that’s built to last.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Ensure Weld Quality and Compliance
•        Conduct visual inspections of structural welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 and other applicable codes
•        Monitor in-process welding and verify that WPS, PQRs, and welder qualifications are properly followed
•        Identify and document nonconformances, providing corrective recommendations as needed
•        Maintain inspection records, weld maps, and project documentation for QA/QC files

Serve as a Technical Leader On-Site
•        Act as the primary welding quality contact for client representatives and internal stakeholders
•        Support and coach field welders to meet procedure specifications
•        Participate in walkdowns, client audits, and turnover packages
•        Coordinate with project and engineering teams to resolve field issues quickly and effectively

Champion Safety and Quality Culture
•        Ensure compliance with safety procedures and EBI’s quality management system
•        Contribute to ISO 9001 audits and project documentation standards
•        Maintain a proactive, safety-first mindset across all field activities

Be Ready for the Unexpected
•        Travel is frequent and often nationwide
•        Work environments include substations, plants, and other field-based industrial settings
•        Schedules may include occasional weekends or extended hours based on project needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•        Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working at heights
•        Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs unassisted
•        Visual focus and ability to hear/understand speech, alarms, and equipment signals
•        Frequent air and vehicle travel to project sites
•        Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and pre-employment physical
•        Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed

Description of ideal candidate
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
•        Current AWS CWI certification (required)
•        5+ years of welding inspection experience in industrial, utility, or high-voltage settings
•        Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.5, ASME Section IX, and API 1104
•        Familiarity with NDE methods (VT required; MT, PT, UT Level II a plus)
•        Strong documentation and reporting skills, with an eye for detail
•        Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and procedure specifications
•        Self-starter with strong communication and critical thinking skills
•        Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
