Job Summary




North Anna Power Station is looking for a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (Intermediate to Staff Level) for its Rapids Response department. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.




This position will include design, evaluation, repair, and construction of Electrical systems, requiring knowledge of the performance requirements of motors, relays, breakers, and other components in low and medium voltage systems and/or Mechanical systems with knowledge of pump types and principles, pump requirements and pump operation and curves, valve types, selection and valve flow coefficient CV, pipe system water hammer and from valve operation, pipe system design, flow analysis and fluid mechanic, pipe stress and supports, piping thermodynamics, and heat and mass transfer.




Additional duties and abilities will include development and overseeing implementation of specifications and engineering changes.



Review functional test requirements for equipment installation



Development and review of engineering technical evaluations supporting plant operation.



Additional duties include reviewing design implementation work orders and providing input to drawing updates in support of design development.




Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience




Engineer: 2-5 years of experience: Senior Engineer 5-7 years of experience: Staff Engineer; 8+ years of experience




Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position; Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives; Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management; Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.); Planning, organizational and project management skills; Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills; Effective decision making skills; Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing); Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems; Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; Equally effective working independently or in a team environment; Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.




REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology anda post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Note: Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.




For Nuclear employees, this ANSI standard must be met, all of which is met or exceeded in the Engineer series job summaries with the exception of the Nuclear Power experience requirement of at least 1 year:




ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science. Minimum experience for the position: Related experience which shall include 2 years; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 year.
