Job description
Job Summary:

The Inside Plant Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing internal telecommunications infrastructure at Fort Irwin. This role requires a thorough understanding of telecommunications systems, structured cabling, and the ability to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Job Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair inside plant telecommunications infrastructure including cables, racks, and patch panels.

Perform routine inspections of inside plant infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues.

Respond to and resolve telecommunications issues and disruptions within the facility.

Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate inside plant projects.

Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing work duties.

Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs.

Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in telecommunications infrastructure.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Active DoD Secret Clearance is required for consideration.

Two years relevant experience in the role, specifically with VOIP technology (Nortel SL100 a bonus, but not required) and Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM).

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Technical or Vocational training in telecommunications is preferred.

Relevant certifications as per DoD 8570.01-M guidelines (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) required.

Proven experience as an Inside Plant Technician or similar role in telecommunications.

Familiarity with telecommunications systems, structured cabling, and safety protocols.

Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Posted Salary Range
$32.50-40.84 per hour
