Job description

Work Schedule: 4x10 schedule, Mon-Thurs.

Apply advanced science, technology, and engineering principles and concepts to design, analyze, and model structures, systems, or components (SSC) through preparation of constructible/manufacturable drawings, specifications, and other design documents. Work independently to develop solutions to complex problems or create innovations through adaption of emerging technological developments or processes. Be aware of and apply the latest technologies, manufacturing techniques, and engineering tools to the design effort. Plan and conduct efforts on complex assignments or projects. Review progress and evaluate results. Act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions, and branches. Integrate safety into all aspects of the engineering designs. Be totally committed to safety conscious work environment including active participation in safety programs and activities. Maintain a working knowledge of the Federal and State Orders and Regulations, National Consensus Codes and Standards, quality assurance, environment, safety, and security requirements.

Description of ideal candidate
Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.

Special Requirements/Training:

Good communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively write reports, make presentations, and productively interface with customers. Participates in continuing education, maintains and enhances technical capability, and continues to acquire competence in engineering disciplines. Experience and proficiency with the following are preferential: 3D modeling software (Inventor preferred); analysis of mechanical structures, fluid dynamics, system dynamics, and thermal analysis; design of complex mechanical assemblies, especially with tight space or weight constraints; prototype design, manufacturing and testing; programming; finite element analysis/computational fluid dynamics (Abaqus or STAR-CCM+ preferred); mechanical system design for use in hazardous environments.
