Job description
Spectra Tech has an immediate need for a JR RCT in Oak Ridge, TN.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Duties for this position include performing routine radiation detection instrument performance tests, radiation, and contamination monitoring, taking air samples, posting and labeling, access control, material clearance surveys, radioactive waste surveys, and higher hazard radiological work job coverage including hot cell operations support. This position involves a significant amount of independent interaction with research and development, facility operations, and maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties and planning of work activities to ensure procedure compliance. RCTs are also responsible for completing and maintaining facility qualification requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

· Minimum of a High School Diploma

· Experience working 6 months as an RCT within the DOE, Commercial Nuclear Power, or the Armed Services Complexes or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Currently qualified as a DOE Radiological Control Technician.

· This position is a Workplace Substance Abuse program (WSAP) testing designed positions that require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in which staff is subject to being randomly selected for testing. The occupants of these positions will also be subject to an ongoing requirement to report to ORNL any drug-related arrest or conviction or receipt of a positive drug test result.

· Ability to wear respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Associate degree in Health Physics or related field

· Experience in operational radiation protection at a DOE National Laboratory or research reactor

· Excellent verbal/written communication and proven teamwork skills

· Good computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office software
