Job description
Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Sr. Piping Design Engineer opportunity for our customer in Oak Ridge, TN for the Y-12 National Security Complex. DOE Q Clearance Required.

Position Overview:
•        Responsible for providing engineering design for process piping and utility piping systems in support of nuclear and non-nuclear projects at Y-12.
•        Responsible for preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, as well as Title II engineering deliverables including preparation of calculations (equipment, valve and pipe sizing) and analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications and data sheets.
•        Design systems such as potable water and fire-protection supply systems, gases, acid and caustic fluids, brines, cryogenics, steam and condensate, hot and chilled water systems, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and vacuum systems.
•        Perform walkdowns in existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents.
•        Assistance with field troubleshooting of equipment may also be required.
•        All activities will be performed in accordance with the Company’s Conduct of Engineering Program.

Requires a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university plus a minimum 10 years’ experience in piping engineering design OR a minimum 20 years of progressive relevant experience as an engineering designer.
Active DOE Q Clearance.
