Job description
SHINE is seeking a training instructor to work with facility personnel to understand performance needs and apply a systematic process to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate technical training for nuclear operations and supporting functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Design/Construction Phase

Work with the Training Manager and to develop, establish and implement training department policies, programs, and procedures as required for the Operations Phase.
Work with operations and licensing personnel to develop training plans and other materials for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensed operators, and support Initial License Training for the facility’s first class of licensed operators.
Assist in the development of an NRC Operating License Application.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Operations Phase

Work with facility personnel to identify performance needs to improve personnel and plant performance.
Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs and materials using a systematic approach to training.
Administer and coordinate training programs for licensed operators, non-licensed operators, and other technical staff.
Ensure course design and training programs follow effective adult learning techniques while meeting regulatory obligations.
Participate in industry and regulatory workshops, benchmarking, assessments, and implement benchmarking best practices.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.


Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.

Description of ideal candidate
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, education, or related fields preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years' nuclear training experience preferred; or any appropriate combination of technical education/experience and academic experience, such as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification, six (6) years Navy Nuclear experience, or two (2) years teaching or developing curriculum in an education or academic environment.
Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups of highly skilled individuals.
Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communications skills.
Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft desktop software.
