About Louisiana Energy Services
Louisiana Energy Services (LES) has chosen a site in Lea County, New Mexico, 5 miles east of the city of Eunice, to build a gas centrifuge uranium enrichment facility. This facility will provide the United States with a domestic source of enriched uranium for the country’s 103 commercial nuclear power plants. LES is a partnership of major nuclear energy companies. The partners include Urenco and U.S. energy companies Duke Power, Entergy and Exelon. On March 3, 2006 Urenco announced the purchase of the 24.5% interest held by Westinghouse Electric Company in LES.
