Job description
Electrical Engineer IV -

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana 70112 - Candidates must live or be nearby the job site.
Contract to Direct placement, not guaranteed.

BHI Energy is seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer to support the Client’s Global Oil & Gas Business. This position will be based in their New Orleans, LA office.

The Electrical Engineer interacts with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and client as appropriate on an assigned project. Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, witness testing, issues reports and maintains related data. Primary focus is on electrical systems, and involves the development of electrical drawings and documentation for the energy, oil, gas and petrochemical industry projects.

Under minimal direction, completes engineering assignments of advanced complexity. Comprehensive understanding of Electrical discipline and basic understanding of other disciplines. Effectively maintains liaison with electrical engineering and design staff. Fully versed with the preparation and execution of project scope in the electrical discipline. Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project. Support the development of electrical project engineering budgets. Advises the manager about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays, and adverse problems.
Keeps proper engineering files and records. Interface with electrical staff, other disciplines, vendors, contractors and clients.
Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Work with project Lead Designer to provide guidance to project design personnel to effectively produce detailed electrical design drawings, including electrical equipment physical layouts, electrical installation details, electrical equipment layout, electrical cable schedules, wiring diagrams and motor schematics. Perform design quality review to ensure quality and consistency of drawings is being met per the Quality Procedures.
Participate in on site installation and start up and commissioning activities, as required, to assist field personnel in systems checkout and commissioning, including coordinating with the control system suppliers and coordinating resolution to problems with other disciplines.

The successful candidate will:Develop and check one-line diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams.Generate specifications for electrical transformers, cables, bus work and other electrical/substation equipment

* Bachelor of Science Degree and 6 years of experience with the engineering and design of complex electrical systems or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education
• 6 years of professional experience with the engineering and design of complex electrical systems for Oil & Gas facility design projects
* Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications, performing analyses, drawing reviews and maintaining related data.
* Previous experience producing electrical design drawings to include:
* Electrical equipment physical layouts
* Electrical installation details
* Electrical equipment layout
* Electrical cable schedules
* Electrical wiring diagrams
* Motor schematics.
• Ability to lead the engineering design efforts for a project
• Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook , Word and Excel programs.

* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a 4-year accredited university program
* Registration as a Professional Engineer or willingness to obtain within 1 years of hire
* Working knowledge of ETAP.
* Proficient in providing electrical estimating to support proposals.
