Job description
Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Engineer opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, New Mexico for the LANL Facility.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
•        Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts and techniques in engineering with knowledge of environmental regulations and local utility codes.
•        Design, and upgrade facility systems and components
•        Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of systems and facilities
•        Collect the requirements for the system, process, and components design or analysis task, and then prepare design concepts that meet the requirements
•        Develop design details, design or analysis calculations, specifications, safety documentation, etc. that incorporate the applicable design and national code requirements, including nuclear safety requirements, as applicable
•        Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. Facility Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Authority, etc.) and the customer during the all stages of design and construction support
•        Implement and work to the authorization basis documents in a Haz Cat II nuclear facility
•        Promote leadership, quality, and safety values in all aspects of job duties
•        Implement the Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program
•        Perform Engineering Evaluations of equipment and systems for performance, safety, and deficiencies
•        Perform calculations and develop engineering calculation reports
•        Work closely with customers and other stakeholders on all engineering disciplines Assist with design studies (e.g., root cause analysis, new design development), identify life-cycle cost reductions, and assist with developing integrated technical positions and recommendations for customer approval
•        Develop products and provisioning documentation, and maintain technical manuals and drawings
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
•        Experience supporting a medium to large-scale project involving engineers and other disciplines
•        Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts and techniques in engineering
•        Demonstrate a basic understanding of industry and material codes and standards,
e.g. ASTM, UMC, UPC Codes and Standards
•        Skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks under general supervision and guidance
•        Ability to organize own work independently in order to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing duties
•        Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job
•        Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communication the project stakeholders and other customers
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in various Engineering fields (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, etc.) (ABET accredited) and 2 years of experience, Professional Engineer license, and/or a Master's degree.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain and a government security clearance.
