Journeyman Lineman Job Description SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for performing construction and maintenance duties of overhead and underground facilities for electrical distribution and transmission. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Construction/maintenance of transmission/distribution facilities in a cost effective manner.2. Ensure facilities remain reliable and efficient. 3. Assist in emergency repair and power restoration after outages. 4. Respond reliably and timely to calls during regular work hours and off regular work hours.5. Account for all construction materials (issues, returns, salvage, etc.) properly. 6. Perform duties safely and in accordance with LCEC accident prevention rules. 7. Comply with applicable codes and standards.8. Maintain effective working relationships with employees/customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.9. Perform other related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment as well as an industrial environment observing employees, their progress with assigned work, and interfacing with both employees and client employees with a moderate to high noise level. The employee is required to don the appropriate personal protective equipment while traversing an industrial environment requiring various degrees of protection. Ability to work at night and for extended hours
Ability to work on ladders, climb poles, drive large vehicles, and operate heavy equipment
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:An ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED. Must have proof of completion of a certified line worker apprentice program and/or four (4) years of experience working as a journeyman line worker. Must obtain and maintain a commercial driver"s license (CDL) Class A. Must live within a 45 minute commute from regular work site or must be willing to travel. Familiarity with personal computer and email preferred. Proven ability to demonstrate a high level of ethical behavior, integrity and trust. Knowledge of BHI Energy processes and procedures and utilization of developed tools to most effectively manage work is essential. Must actively demonstrate the BHI company values and support the BHI Ethics and Standards. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of BHI and client technical manuals and procedures; to pass BHI and client specific training and qualifications as required; subject to personnel call out as required in support of nuclear station emergent work requirements; to work overtime, to include shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed; and be able to pass all background and screening requirements for the position, to include drug and/or alcohol screening.
