Job description
Senior Health Physicist

Experience / Education Required

Bachelorís degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a calculus based on
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
field, plus at least 9 yearsí relevant experience; three years of
experience must be in dosimetry.

Advanced degree and/or professional certification (CHP) desired. Advanced experience with
dosimetry systems and programs is highly desirable. Experience with
radiation detectors, data acquisition systems, laboratory analysis, and
alpha and gamma ray spectroscopy is also desired; must possess
effective oral and written communications skills and demonstrated
ability to write technical reports; must possess planning/organizing
skills and initiative; must be able to employ independent judgment and
apply professional knowledge to ensure that assignments are
completed efficiently and on time; must possess interpersonal
communication skills to deal with contacts in an effective, positive, and
professional manner; must possess mathematical skill and ability to
understand complex data, terminology, procedures, laws, and
regulations; must be capable of performing moderate lifting; and may
be requested to work nonstandard hours.

Scope of Work

Primary responsibilities will include performing radiological dose
assessments, evaluations, and calculations using industry
available software; assisting in developing new methods and
techniques for acquiring, analyzing, and processing radiological
data; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local
regulations, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
orders, and corporate requirements; consulting with supervisors
and departmental representatives on radiological control
matters to ensure work procedures are in compliance with core
processes, and governmental requirements; participating in the
conduct of management assessments; reviewing work packages
and proposed test plans to ensure necessary requirements are
incorporated into work control; and completing special projects
to meet internal and external customer expectations.
