Job Summary




The Supervisor Nuclear Engineering ? In-Service Inspection and Non-Destructive Examinations (ISI/NDE) is responsible for providing leadership, organizational structure, technical guidance, and oversight for a diverse team of technical staff that provide Programs leadership and field services for the Dominion Energy Nuclear fleet. The most qualified candidate for this position would have: a demonstrated ability to collaborate and constructively lead technical staff; a demonstrated ability to plan work assignments to meet short-term priorities and long-term goals; a personal commitment to staff technical and professional development; experience developing timely and comprehensive strategies in response to emergent nuclear plant system, component, and materials issues; experience with applicable industry working groups and driving timely action on industry operating experience; demonstrated effective face-to-face communication skills and remote management skills with staff, peer supervisors, department management, station customers, and Nuclear management; and a strong understanding of nuclear power plant design, operation, and inspection processes.




The ISI/NDE team is part of the Fleet Programs and Components (FP&C) organization in the Nuclear Engineering and Fuel (NEF) department. The team has responsibility for the nuclear fleet (North Anna Power Station, Surry Power Station, Millstone Power Station, and VC Summer Power Station) for implementation of the ISI program, Containment ISI Program, and NDE Level III inspection activities. The NDE team also provides governance, oversight, and support for station staff that implement the NDE program. The fleet NDE team manages the training and certification program for all fleet NDE technicians and supplemental employees. The team is responsible for hiring and providing field oversight for vendors performing specialized NDE activities such as steam generator eddy current, phased array ultrasonic testing, reactor vessel head volumetric exams and bare metal visual exams, 10-year ISI exams, and MRP-227 exams. The team interfaces with several engineering programs that establish inspection requirements that utilize various NDE methods, including Steam Generators, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, Reactor Vessel Internals, Thermal Fatigue, Alloy 600, and Underground Piping and Tank Inspections. The supervisor is responsible for driving productive industry engagement with each program and successful internal coordination on actionable operating experience. Industry engagement includes the ISI Owners Group, ASME Section XI code committees, EPRI NDE Research Integration Committee, EPRI Materials Reliability Program, and the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group




Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience




7+ years of engineering experience of which at least 1 year shall be nuclear power plant experience. On-site experience to include at least .25 yr.

Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory, and knowledge of engineering design, design control, nuclear power plant systems, structures, components, and operation of nuclear power plants. Experience providing consultation to management on emergent technical challenges affecting nuclear plant performance or component operability. Knowledge of nuclear regulations and regulatory processes, especially those that establish requirements for the design and licensing of nuclear plants. Experience selecting, coordinating, and providing oversight of nuclear power plant services vendors. Professional orientation and interpersonal skills, including an ability to lead, motivate, maintain accountability, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, work in teams, and to work independently under own initiative. Ability to identify and communicate effectively the technical, analytical, organizational, regulatory, administrative, and implementation scope for nuclear plant design and analysis activities. Ability to maintain cognizance and control of multiple projects, tasks, or teams. Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and standard Microsoft applications. Problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions on a case-by-case and nuclear-fleet-wide basis. Preferred Direct experience with materials reliability programs preferred. Post-graduate technical degree(s) preferred. Management experience or business degree (such as Masters of Business Administration) preferred.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:




Bachelor in Engineering, engineering technology or related science.

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.




Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description




ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)




Education: Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.




Minimum Experience for the position:




Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr. On site experience to include .25 yr.




Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
