Summary of Responsibilities



Under minimal supervision, the Senior Safety & Emergency Preparedness Specialist is accountable for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of the URENCO USA (UUSA) Emergency Preparedness Program and active participation in the implementation, enforcement, and maintenance activities of the UUSA Industrial and Chemical Safety Programs.  This could include but is not limited to: program planning; emergency plan and procedure writing and revision; small project design, scheduling, and implementation; developing and delivering training; planning, developing, and conducting emergency drills and exercises; developing and maintaining emergency facilities and equipment; providing coordination with State and local emergency management and response authorities; and performing periodic reviews/assessments of the emergency preparedness program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and commitments for the site.



Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:



            
  • Associate?s Degree
            
  • 5+ years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

            
  • Bachelor?s Degree in safety, industrial safety, occupational safety & health or other related field
            
  • 7+ years of related experience in health & safety and/or emergency preparedness

Job Details

            
  • Work Location: Eunice, NM
            
  • Work Schedule: 9/80 professional work schedule, some nights/weekends may be required
            
  • Travel Required: 10% of the time or less as required.
            
  • Security Clearance Requirement: CAA Access and a L or Q level security clearance.
            
  • Emergency Response Requirements: Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duty may be required; including being on-call (24/7) during your designated team duty week.
            
  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.
            
  • Responsible for the protection of confidential and proprietary information received during employment, including keeping information in strict confidence, exercising a reasonable degree of care to prevent disclosure to others, not disclosing or divulging either directly or indirectly information to others, and not using the information commercially or for any other purpose other than the performance of their duties for Urenco. Confidential information includes information and data of any kind concerning any matters affecting or relating to Urenco business or operations, including compensation, investigations, financial controls, etc.

Primary Functions

            
  • Develop and maintain the URENCO USA Emergency Plan and emergency plan implementing procedures, to include annual/periodic and required reviews and revisions.
            
  • Responsible for leading the implementation, enforcement, and Maintenance of UUSA industrial and chemical safety programs in accordance with company initiatives and all applicable state and federal guidelines.
            
  • Support implementation of Urenco group-wide industrial safety program campaign.
            
  • Support audits, surveillances, inspections, and assessments by quality assurance and external regulating organizations.
            
  • Assist with development and training of UUSA employees to support all aspects of industrial and chemical safety.
            
  • Conduct incident investigations.
            
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to appropriate government agencies.
            
  • Analyze unsafe conditions and lead in developing corrective action plans.
            
  • Perform and review basic analyses, calculations, and evaluations in support of the facility and assigned programs and projects.
            
  • Maintain records of findings, violations, and recommendations for corrective action.
            
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all industrial safety regulations, guidelines and best practices.
            
  • Perform 10CFR 70.32 evaluations and effectiveness technical reviews on proposed changes to the facility, including changes to the emergency plan and EPIPs to ensure the emergency preparedness capability is not degraded.
            
  • Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive emergency response training program for URENCO USA employees, members of the URENCO USA ERO and offsite emergency response support agencies
            
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage the URENCO USA comprehensive Emergency Preparedness Drill and Exercise Program. Drill and exercise activities include, but not limited to the following: development of the annual drill schedule; coordination of planning and conduct of drills with appropriate URENCO USA and offsite organizations; and management of the site?s drill and exercise lessons learned system.
            
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of emergency response facilities and equipment.  Oversee identification, procurement, inventory and maintenance of emergency equipment and supplies for the primary Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Alternate EOC, and other strategic locations on site.

Compensation starting at: $ 108808 - $ 153380 / year and up dependent on candidate.
