Job description
SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Engineering Programs Components leads the Component Engineering section within Programs Engineering. This role provides technical direction, oversight, and performance management for engineers responsible for assigned component programs (AOVs, MOVs, large motors, critical pumps, lubrication, vibration monitoring, Fire Protection, BACCP, Snubbers, IST, Engineering Surveillance Coordinator, etc). The supervisor ensures engineering rigor, regulatory alignment, program health, continuous improvement, and strong field engagement. The Supervisor, Engineering Programs promotes a questioning attitude, conservative decision making, and strong nuclear safety culture.

EDUCATION
•        Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical/science area (Required)

EXPERIENCE
•        4 years of power plant experience or other relevant experience with a minimum of 1 year in nuclear power plant experience (Required); 5 years of total relevant experience is preferred.
•        Engineering experience with exposure to programs and components (e.g., pumps, motors, valves, turbine, main generator) (Preferred)
•        Demonstrated experience directly supervising engineers, leading technical teams, or acting as a lead system engineer. (Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
•        Professional Engineering License, SRO License, SRO certification, Root Cause Training/experience (Preferred)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Directs the analysis of plant performance and provides recommendations regarding plant operations, maintenance, or testing. Acts as advocate for plant system/component health and the continuous improvement of plant performance and reliability.
•        Provides management level reports on specific tasks and reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identify appropriate corrective actions. Reviews investigations for significant condition reports for apparent or root cause and develop recommendations for corrective actions.
•        Provide technical support and lead troubleshooting, cause analysis, and corrective actions for degraded conditions when necessary; champion timely, effective problem resolution. Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Work Management, Projects, and Procurement to plan/execute work, eliminate recurring issues, and optimize PM/Predictive Maintenance strategies
•        Prepare and deliver technical presentations, engineering justifications, and regulatory or industry responses as needed.
•        Steward Maintenance Rule (10 CFR 50.65) performance: goals, monitoring, scoping, a(MP) and (a)(1) evaluations, performance improvement plans.
•        Directs the preparation of procurement documents for purchase of equipment, materials, and services to support operations, maintenance and testing within assigned area.
•        Reviews and approves engineering documentation (e.g., design change packages, temporary modifications, calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, engineering evaluations, item equivalency evaluations, etc.)
•        Reviews non-conforming component dispositions. Evaluates the extent of the condition and its effect on the component's ability to perform the required design function.

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations.
•        Understands and manages to financial and budget targets. Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.
•        Proactively monitors and interprets ongoing financial performance and responds strategically.
•        Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions and takes accountability for financial decisions within area.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
•        Ensures development plans are in place and followed.
•        Performs personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals).
•        Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).
•        Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.
•        Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.
•        Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.
•        Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.
•        Understands and implements company policies.
•        Provides employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.


SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
•        Demonstrated analytical ability. Ability to use algebra and trigonometry to calculate heat balances and flowrates.
•        Knowledge of regulatory requirements for surveillance testing, in service testing, and plant modifications.
•        Knowledge of assigned systems and/or programs sufficient to instruct personnel, monitor trends, and determine appropriate response to problems.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Accept Outage position.
•        Accept ERO position and be able to meet the response requirements.
•        Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access if needed.
•        Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•        Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•        Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
•        Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
•        May be required to carry a phone.
•        Travel may be required.

WORK LOCATION
•        Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
