SUMMARY
Assists Safety Leadership with the implementation of the company's safety procedures and incident prevention measures to comply with Regulatory, station procedure, and objectives. Ensures a uniform and consistent approach to company safety programs is maintained throughout all facilities and departments to re-enforce the company's safety programs.
EDUCATION
Bachelor degree in Safety (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
Spec Safety Assoc - No Experience is required.
Spec Safety - 2 Years experience in a safety discipline such as Safety Specialist. (Required)
Spec Safety Sr - 5 Years experience in a safety discipline such as Safety Specialist. (Required)
Spec Safety Staff - 8 Years experience in a safety discipline such as Safety Specialist. (Required)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs off-site safety assessments and audits as requested.
Performs critical field safety observations of station personnel and processes.
Performs audits and assessments of company employees, equipment and facilities.
Provides technical support to the Training Department to assure compliance with safety procedures, requirements, and regulations.
Conducts investigations to ensure compliance with government safety laws, standards and regulations.
Knowledge of safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to conduct formal accident investigations and inform management of preventative measures to prevent future recurrence.
Ability to conduct formal safety training and presentations to management and employees and contractors.
Reviews procedure revisions as they pertain to safety.
Performs technical review of processes and procedures in accordance with regulations and procedural compliance.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Accept ERO position as needed.
Accept outage position as needed.
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to operate and/or maintain plant or mock-up equipment, systems, tools, cranes or forklifts as appropriate for instructional purposes of the related training discipline. This may include achieving and maintaining appropriate plant qualifications.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
Travel may be required.
May be required to carry a phone.
WORK LOCATION
Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
