Job description
Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Principal Designer opportunity for our customer in Richland, WA for the Hanford Site.

Title: Principal Designer

2620 Fermi Richland


General drafting of electrical, structural, HVAC, mechanical, and piping drawings. Creation of and incorporation of engineering change notices into engineering drawings for general support of the Tank Farms operations in support of the TOC drawing program. Specific tasks involved are:
1.        Creating ECN/DCN documents of essential, support and reference drawings for Tank Farms
2.        Incorporating work completed ECN/DCN documents on essential and support drawings for Tank Farms


Required Qualifications/Skills

Under general direction of lead engineer or supervisor, interprets contract requirements to produce optimum plant design and piping layout for all types of equipment.
Qualifications include certifications in AutoCAD and a 3-D modeling package such as SolidWorks or Inventor (or equivalent) and 15+ years of related experience.
10+ years of experience with engineering change notices.
Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

3.2        Desired Qualifications/Skills

•        16+ years of general drafting and design experience.
•        Experience in electrical, structural, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, piping, plot plans, pipe supports, plans, sections and details
•        8+ years’ incorporating change notices and updating drawings
•        Knowledge of ANSI and ASME standards
•        Fully competent in the use of AutoCAD 2011 or higher
•        Competent in the use of paper space/model space
•        Fully competent in Autodesk Inventor (3D modeling)
•        Must be physically able to perform field walk-downs to verify existing conditions in nuclear facilities
•        Ability to work with minimal supervision

Hanford General Employee Training (HGET) to be provided.


Hanford personnel at the Hanford Site work a standard 4/10 schedule. The standard work week consist of ten (10) hours of work between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with one-half hour designated as an unpaid period for lunch, Monday through Thursday.
Work performed outside normal operating hours shall be coordinated and approved by the Level 1 Manager prior to performing the work.
