Job description
Lightbridge Corporation (NASDAQ: LTBR) is a nuclear fuel technology development company based in Reston, Virginia, USA. The Company develops proprietary next generation nuclear fuel technologies for current and future reactors, which significantly enhances the economics and safety of nuclear power.
In January 2018, Lightbridge and Framatome, Inc. formed a 50-50 joint venture, Enfission, LLC, to develop, license, manufacture, and sell Lightbridge Fuel™ for use in pressurized water reactors (PWRs), boiling water reactors (BWRs), water-cooled small modular reactors, and water-cooled research reactors.

The purpose of this position is to provide hands-on leadership across many areas to support the development and readiness of the Lightbridge Fuel manufacturing facility in Richland, Washington. Responsibilities of the role will include supporting facility design; equipment specification, procurement and installation; startup/commissioning; and production optimization. The principal project engineer will act as the Lightbridge execution lead at the facility. The position will be fully-integrated with the Richland, WA Enfission team and report to the Vice President of Fuel Cycle Technology & Fuel Fabrication at Lightbridge.

Additionally, the Lightbridge Principal Project Engineer will:
• Ensure that Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) best practices are emphasized and followed throughout all phases of the project.
• Ensure full execution and compliance with applicable contract requirements with respect to schedule and cost reporting, notifications, and project deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Management System (QMS), 10CFR50 Appendix B, and NQA-1 requirements throughout the facilities program, as required.

Minimum job requirements:
• Accredited 4-year college degree or global equivalent in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering and 10 - 12 years of related experience, or combinations of education and direct experience equivalent to 14 - 16 years. Advanced degree in an applicable field of study may substitute for experience as follows: MS 1 – 2 years; PhD 2 – 3 years.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in execution of similar projects. Successful performance as a project engineer on projects of similar size and scope in the manufacturing process development arena.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles and their application in industrial settings.
• Experience with processing and handling of pyrophoric, reactive, and radioactive materials, including uranium.
• Takes initiative, exercises sound judgment and maturity.
• Comfortable in complex project or business environments.
• Ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems with multiple constraints.
• Knowledge of U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and requirements applicable to nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.
