Paul Jones, DeNuke. $800 basic, $800 advanced.

Their last class was in the smokies, but I think their next one might be in Vegas.

My colleagues and I attend a seminar given by Duratek.  The seminar is located in the Smokies so it offers some great locale to see.  I wouldnt mind going to Vegas though if I could just justify it...........

Duratek offers Web-based training for DOT/NRC transportation at:

www.duratrain.com

The web-based option is reasonable at $495 and they have their next class in Columbia, SC for $995.

Hope this helps.

I don't believe that this training is certified nor are the online training modules current.

Looks to me that they offer the basic training, not the advanced, which is what you need to be a "certified" shipper.

I took the Advanced Radioactive Waste Packaging Transportation and Disposal Workshop from NEWEX. The advanced course was required for me to ship.

newex@volcano.net

Two certificates were given one for participation (for non-shippers) and an additional one for completion of a the awareness test and Shippers Certification Exam. Periodically the course is done in Salt Lake City and includes a tour of Envirocare, one of the instructors was an Envirocare employee.

About the One-Day Hazmat Transportation Workshops

Hazmat Transportation Workshops provide a basic overview of the regulatory requirements – what they are, how they apply, and how to meet them – for shipping and transporting Hazardous Materials. The workshops will address the same information as the Hazmat Basics track given at the Multimodal Seminars and will include overviews of the Training and Security Requirements. These workshops are given by members of PHMSA’s Hazardous Materials Safety Assistance Team.

This will meet the recertification of trained individuals. If you are in need of training you may want to go to a 3 or 4 day event, but if you ship every day and do not required a true retrain this is just right.
