Low-level Radioactive Burial Markers

  These granite markets sit at the back end of the ChemNuclear waste disposal site. Each is a headstone for a large clay trench containing metal drums, steel boxes, polyethylene containers, and carbon steel liners full of medical, industrial, and commercial radioactive waste. The "institutional control period" for the site is 100 years. Barnwell, South Carolina, August 7, 1983.
