Can anyone give me information about upcoming NRRPT exam prep courses coming up for the Feb 2009 exam?

What part of the country are you in?

Contact the local Health Physics Society, they usually run a prep class for the cost of the materials.

NRRPT Exam Preparation
5-day course, US$ 1,895

This intensive 5-day class is designed to assist you in preparing for and passing the NRRPT exam. The class will cover all of the required knowledge areas delineated by the NRRPT, including: Sources of Radiation, Atomic Structure, Interaction of Radiation with Matter, Evaluating Internal and External Exposures and Controls, Prescribed Dosimetry and Radiation Equipment, Personnel Dosimetry, Biological Effects, Guides and Regulations, Radioactive Material Control and Transportation, Surveys and Inspections, Contamination Control, Emergency Preparedness, Procedures and Programs (ALARA), Analytical Methods, Instrument Calibration and Maintenance, and Equipment Operation.

Presentations will be based upon “Introduction to Health Physics” by Herman Cember, the text recommended by the NRRPT for exam preparation. All students will receive a copy of the text as well as copies of all slides used in the class. Practice exams and problem-solving will be included.

Class sizes will be limited to assure maximum attention for each student’s needs. The primary instructors are Dr. Alan Fellman, a Certified Health Physicist with a PhD in radiation science/environmental science and RSO, Mr. Sean Austin, a Certified Health Physicist and RSO, and Ray Johnson, a Certified Health Physicist.

Note: successful completion of NRRPT certification is recognized for up to 30 college credits towards a 4-year degree at select institutions. Credits are approved by the ABHP and the ABIH

I took their CHP prep and was impressed with it.  You can't go wrong with the  Radiation Safety Academy but you may not need that.  Lots of us passed test with only a copy of Cember or Gollnick.  If you read everything you can and work the problems then you will do fine.
