Hi, I've just been offered an internship position at a nuclear power plant and am curious about what of my blemishes may end up hurting me in passing my background check. Of course I'll disclose everything. The biggy is I declared bancruptcy 5 years ago. I made the mistake of applying for every c.card I could in college and racked up almost 20k in debt before I was 23. I was an idiot. Anyway, when I declared my thought was, if I don't get out from under these payments, I'll never be able to afford to get back in college and get a real job. I would be buried by my debt forever. If I declare, I can start over, and I know no one will believe me, but when I get a real job, I fully intend to have my old accounts reinstated so I can actually pay them back.
I've had nothing but good credit, including buying a car and a house since then. Will this keep me from gaining access?
Second, when I was in college the first time, I was there on an Army ROTC scholarship. After two years, I decided it wasn't for me and quit. That was 8 years ago. I was a real dumb kid back then. Will the find that, should I disclose it if the forms don't ask about anything like that, and will it hurt me?
Thanks for the assistance
