We have opportunities available for Shift Support Supervisors In Training at our Plant Vogtle Units 3&4 in Waynesboro, Ga.
JOB SUMMARY:
Selected candidates for the Shift Support Supervisor in Training (SSS-IT) vacancies for Vogtle Units 3&4 must be able to meet cold license eligibility and experience requirements per NEI 06-13A (FSAR). In order to prepare for this requirement, hired candidates will perform Operations staff functions for plant familiarization to prepare for an upcoming NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) Cold License Class. New hires will immediately be assigned to a 20 week pre-training course. Successful SSS-IT candidates must pass both the Augusta Tech class and the NRC Generic Fundamentals exam in order to move forward in the Vogtle 3&4 cold license training program.
Successful candidates will flow through the required training program as follows:
* Augusta Technical College Course (20 weeks):
o Fundamentals
o Human performance principles
o Introduction to nuclear plant systems (based on our existing Vogtle Units 1&2)
o Introduction to integrated plant operations (based on our existing Vogtle Units 1&2)
o NRC Generic Fundamental Exam
* AP1000 Systems Training
* Job shadowing at a SNC operating plant
* AP1000 Simulator Training (limited scope simulator)
* Pre-operational testing assignment
* Spin-up on AP1000 systems
* NRC Written Exam
* Hot functional testing
* Spin-up on Plant Reference Simulator
* NRC Operating Exam
Candidates must successfully complete plant-provided systems and fundamentals training on reactor operation, heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics, as well as pass initial screening and annual medical requirements for acquiring and maintaining industrial fire brigade duties.
Upon the successful completion of Cold License Class and attaining an NRC Operating License, the SSS-IT candidate will become a Shift Support Supervisor, directing operating shift personnel in the performance of plant duties. This will include standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts, and coordinating and directing the operation of the nuclear power plant's systems. Shift work, continuous training with periodic examinations, respirator qualification, and maintaining qualification as a member of the plant Fire Brigade are all requirements of this position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Candidates are required to complete a Plant Operator behavioral compatibility assessment to determine suitability for Operations supervisory responsibilities.
* The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access and will participate in the company's Fitness-for-Duty program.
* Candidate may be required to maintain qualifications and on-call responsibilities in support of the plant Emergency Response Organization.
* In order to obtain unescorted access, the selected candidate will be required to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). Information from this form will be used to conduct an extensive background investigation as required by Title 10 of the code of Federal Regulations.
* It is unlikely you will be granted access if (1) you have had a positive drug or alcohol test within the past five years; (2) you have used or possessed drugs in the past five years; (3) you have a felony conviction in the past five years; (4) you have recent misdemeanor convictions; (5) you falsify or omit information or fail to fully cooperate during the investigation process. This list is not inclusive.
Education Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED
Background/Experience Requirements:
* It is required that candidates meet at least one of the following in order of preference:
o 1 or more years as an active reactor operator at a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) facility
o 1.5 or more years as an active reactor operator at a non-comparable commercial power reactor
o 2 or more years in a position equivalent to a reactor operator position at a military reactor. Equivalent military positions include:
+ Propulsion Plant Watch Officer
+ Engineering Watch Supervisor
+ Reactor Operator
+ Engineering Officer of the Watch
+ Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor
o Bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field
* Solid analytical thinking and strong mechanical aptitude a must.
* Should possess a high degree of manual dexterity and mature judgment
* It is preferred that candidates also have:
o Four or more years of experience in nuclear plant operations (e.g., Nuclear Navy or commercial power plant)
o Have held an NRC Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator license or military equivalent
