Hello, new guy here. I'm looking for the best way to approach the industry.
I'm the son of a former Reg Assurance guy with Exelon who learned alpha, beta, and gamma along with my alphabet. I hold an B.S. in Biochem, M.S. in Chem, and a M.P.H. focused in Industrial Hygiene. That had a graduate-level course on rad protection, and I did the surveys in the radioactive room during my chemistry research, so I'm familiar with using a G-M counter and general principles of rad protection. I also read radiation protection textbooks in my spare time, along with several books on the nuclear industry.
My experience is in chemistry instruction, lab management, and safety inspections. I have a HAZWOPER 40-hr from my last job.
So, how should I look for a job in the industry? Should I look for a chemist position? Rad protection? Operator positions?
