Of course that happens. It's human nature to some extent because some "supervisors" have thinner skins than others. They feel their egos and/or their self-importance is being threatened. As for me, I've told my Techs that if they don't like the answer I give them, I fully expect them to "go behind my back" because, ultimately, my expectation for those Techs is to do their best and to do it correctly. Heck, I make mistakes, too. On the other hand, some Techs feel the need to go talk to the "big boys" to stroke their own self-importance or through some imagined smoothing of their own career path. I rely on my management's discernment to understand the difference between me making a mistake and some Tech stroking their personal ego before they drop the hammer on me.
