Navy submarines are now fueled for the life of the boat. Can't compare the design or enrichment between the two but there is the inevitable improvement for both. My first two boats only had a 7-year fuel cycle with the second modified with a new core with a 15-year refueling cycle just before I separated in 78. With extended refueling I wonder how much under power maintenance will be done and how that will impact outages. Not here yet they only put four test assemblies in and there is the inevitable slow regulatory changes.
