   Tennessee Tech is adding to the already heavy presence of nuclear in East Tennessee. University of Tennessee has had a nuclear engineering program since 1957. UT is internationally recognized for research and teaching. UT has close ties with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (UT-Battelle, LLC), the Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex, UCOR, at the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), and more than one hundred nuclear related companies located within fifty miles of Knoxville.
   A number of nuclear facilities/reactors are in the planning or construction at ETTP and east Tennessee in general. Rednecks and PHDs, sometimes one in the same. As a retired NukeWorker it makes getting an occasional short job possible just not too many  8).
