#2, and #7 are my favorites:

2.  Don't limit your job search!  Use your networks, online databases, etc.  Time to think out of the box!  Try a few different angles while in search of that dream job.

7.  Don't stop your job search after an interview.   Keep the momentum going.  Your goal should be to have CHOICES, not jump at the first offer you get (unless it's your dream job, of course).  Waiting for you Dream Job?  See #1: Expectations.

I can attest to number 7 personally.  After I had been to 3 different testing sessions/interviews, I almost did not go to the 4th because I expected one of the three to come through.  The common thought regarding navy nucs is throw out the resume and it will attract the jobs.  In reality it is not that easy, especially in today's market.  Turned out I was competing with not only college graduates, but NR reps, retiring nuc MCPOs, and the like.  Luckily for me, the fourth interview did work out and now I have a great job working in a great part of the country.
