Hydroid growth/ water box fouling

Does anyone have any experience combatting hydroid growth in the circ pump discharge tunnels and water boxes? We have tried coating our circ pump discharge tunnels but the hydroids still build up and seem to break off at once fouling our water boxes. We have to down power to drop the water box and we usually get several barrels of debris out. This also plays havoc on the condenser tube cleaning system. The balls get stuck in the debris and can't make it through the condenser tubes and our thermal efficiency suffers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How often do you :

Heat treat, reverse tunnels, etc?

Hypochlorinate (within NPDES or state limits, of course) ?

Which coating do you use? There are some better newer ones out there.

no not really dont get creative with it-

if you misapplicate you are subject to EPA violations and fines. you have to purchase an antifouling agent that is designed for the exact application. any pesticide by law has application uses and those uses must be followed. most swimming pool tablest have cyanuric acid in them and other chemicals and are designed and permitted for that use only.  know FIFRA ... and what your NPDES states. it will have to be changed to reflect what the outfall produces.
