Yep - that and...

"There's no way I can be greased."

Is another sure-fire way to command their respect.

Its a kinder gentler navy today.....Greasing, taping, and other old rites of passage are considered hazing today and will get the perpetrator into much trouble.

It wasn't that long ago we taped my chief up in ERML and chased the MMC back to the goatlocker.  When we got to the goatlocker COB says "Untape ETC and tell him to get up here, now".  We played dumb, and suggested the COB go find ETC himself.  He knew better.

lagrange

Ha, your first week, my last day.

It's your Navy, shippie. 8)

Long, long way to go.  Once you stand a little Feed Pump Watch in the Gulf you'll have earned that nuke pay!

t

Ain't that the truth!!  I used to lose about 25 pounds during a Med Cruise...

Cycoticpenguin

WOW. Thread got some responses... :D

As for the "Stairs"... im sorry! they should have a GMK session before graduating prototype on shipboard terms, ceremonies, and what-to-do's. I was quite shocked when I met the CO the other day when I tried to board the officer quarterdeck! :D

DD: what ship were you on... I have heard that story before!

Far as attitude is concerned - coming from a simple plant like marf, to an A1G ... thats... Sobering? I dont have a freaking clue about much, so thank god my quals have powerschool/prototype knowledge :)

Fermi2

Fermi2

I owe the error to him being only 30% done, he hasn't even finished the A yet, everything after that is theoretical at this point.

Actually, I don't know that we even asked that question formally, we just thought everyone knew because its on the cover of most of the big heavy books. ;D

Fermi2

Ah kids these days. They wouldn't have looked on the cover of the big Heavy book. Now text it to them and it to them on the internet and they might remember it.

I got curious and googled it.  Apparently is is now the A4W/A1G reactor.  Not sure if that has to do with the new core load of lower enrichment or what.
Dave

Fermi2

GE designs the Core. S5W Reactors had the S3G Core 3. It was still an S5W reactor.

rumrunner

I had forgotten about the S3G/S5W thing, but the A1G core designation is new for the A4W - at least to me.  So I guess GE got involved with the A4W when the new cores were installed.  Regardless, it is still the most spacious and clean reactor compartment I've ever seen.  Anyone know if they still use all-volatile chemistry control?  That was a pleasant memory too, but still better than fooling with tri and di.

WTF is an A1G?

Mike

I think it is one of those big gray floating targets...

Cycoticpenguin

Not to be rude... but on the cover of EVERY SINGLE BOOK is : "A4W/A1G" :D

I may be dink, but im not an idIot ;) (ok maybe sometimes...)

Hey,
It was an A4W/A1G back in the 80's also.

What's an "idot" ::)

Just busting your chops...Thanks for your service ;D
If a chicken and a half can lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many days will it take a grasshopper with a rubber foot to kick a hole in a tin can?

It's an A4W, I don't care what the book says ;)

Fermi2

It's an A4W plant.

I love busting on NUBs.

Well I guess this whole thing proves the second part of your last statement wrong, huh? ;)

And here's a look-up for ya.....

I can think of two books that you'll use alot in quals that don't have the A4W/A1G stamped on them.

What are those books???

Are they filled with glossy pages and usually found under the mattress of the one guy in berthing known as the "king", spending at least $50 in each port to replenish his supply of said "books"?

Gamecock

Those were all good responses :) :)

However, they weren't exactly what I was thinking of....
