Background Check

I am looking into a career in nuclear power; however, I am concerned about the background check.  I have had tax problems in the past and do not want to start the process only to have the door slammed in my face.  Does anyone know if a power station would automatically disqualify someone for tax issues?

You need to provide more info.  Are you a felon tax evader?  What are the circumstances of your problem?  Credit history is checked, but minor tax issues shouldn't be a problem.

There's no short answer other than to make full, honest disclosure.  Failure to do that will most certainly permanently prevent you from getting your unescorted nuke access.

It is not felon tax evasion.  I made the mistake of not paying for a couple of years (youthful error in judgement).  I have not had any charges brought against me and I am in the process of resolving the years in question.  I have been filing and paying my taxes (even paying extra) for the past 3 years.

Be honest when asked...doesn't look like it should be a problem especially with your resolution.  They will check to verify.

Thank you for responding to me.  I really appreciate it.  I just wanted to check on it.  I am a student and have been offered a co-op in a nuclear plant.  My prior tax issues were concerning me on the background check.
