I will be getting out at my EAOS after 12 years of service to be joining my soon-to-be husband in Hawaii (he's staying in). I have difficulty justifying getting "THE Thomas Edison degree" while I still have time because, to be honest, I'm looking to change things up. I couldn't find anything anywhere in the forums about the subject and was looking for some insight.
I will need a job (for my sanity's sake, not so much the income - after 12 years of Navy life, busy is all I can handle!) when I get to Hawaii in late 2011, but have NO idea what I'd be qualified for. I've taken a couple college classes, but haven't finished any degree plan yet. I'm hesitant because I do not want to do what I've been doing up to this point. I'm MTS qualified, but does that transfer to the civilian world? To be completely honest, I'm looking for a job that no longer robs me of femininity (props to all the ladies that can make it farther without becoming embittered, but I'm pushing 30 and would like to start a family). I'd spent the year before the navy as an auto mechanic, then my time in as an MM/ELT.
If anyone knows of jobs in Hawaii (Oahu, to be specific) that utilize my PPWS, ELT, MTS and Chief qualifications, please post and help me find some direction. I'd like to figure this out sooner rather than later, as I'll obviously need some time to get my affairs in order! Thank you so much for your time!
