Going to the hotel tomorrow sometime, and Monday I'm going for a cardiovascular consult.... hopefully i get my waiver.

So I went to MEPS and i had to do a Cardiovascular Consult and have an EKG done... waiting to hear back from the waiver authorities. The head recruiter at the office i go to says I should hear something back sometime this week.... If i get my waiver it's off to take the NAPT.

Technically, they don't own you until you leave for boot camp.

Not so fast.   :P   I will give you a  +K [prize]  +K for having the right big picture.  But,

Technically (speaking), they don't "own" you until you swear-in the "Second (aka 2nd)" time at MEPS (i.e. before you ship out).  So, technically speaking, you a have already been owned before you ship (i.e. leave) for boot camp.

You're right. I should've been more specific. I apologize.

Your cardio waiver should be akin to my seizure waiver, be mentally prepared to wait a long long time. I was told "We'll have it in two weeks" for 9 months straight. Hopefully yours goes much smoother, but just be prepared. Also, mentally prepare yourself if they say no. Take this time to get your ducks in a row, consider applying to colleges and stuff, get working on your degree, it wont hurt. Im 100% positive they only approved my waiver because I already went through the pipeline (long, long, painful story behind all this).

Joy... I've already come to the decision if i don't get into the Navy I'll just work... =/ Don't want to take a student loan, And i should have a job soon that will turn into a full time job anyways... And the thing that sucks is, where the waiver was sent if I'm rejected I'm rejected by all branches =/

Correct, its not a "nuke waiver" its a "military waiver".

Id still like to take this time to pressure you on going to school.... Hope you do well and all, but dont be foolish either.

He has no idea and is filling you with hot air so you don't run off. Bupers and bumed work on their own schedule and don't report to po1 joe recruiter. Be patient, you will find out in due time though.

You me and my uncle are all frustrated with my recruiter... My uncle is a cheif petty officer and hates the fact that my recruiter doesn't know a single thing ad wants to call him and flip out on him for not knowing a single thing... Parents are also frustrated because of how long everything is taking...

You only have leverage in this process while you are a civilian. I'd walk, and let the Nuclear Recruiter for your district know why.

Yes.

You can even talk to another Navy Recruiter.  Once in DEP you lose your bargining power (just as HD63 mentioned).  I recommend HD63's advice.  Talk to the Navy NUCLEAR Recruiter for your area.  Not a normal navy recruiter that may or may not be a nuke.

MEPs home page

Command contact info page.

In the lower left click on your MEPs location.  Then use that contact info to find out whom you should speak with at that facility.

Did you say you wanted to be a marine?  WTF over; Can I get a read back, shipmate?    :P [quit]

Prudent advice. However, you dont lose bargaining rights in DEP.... Just stop showing up, and things go your way pretty fast... ;)
