I read the article.  I do not know enough about this science to dismiss the theories (LERN) or the scientists working on the project.  I am torn between wanting to believe that this is real and my innate skepticism of magic.  I will withhold my opinion on the matter until after the details are released and the data corroborated.  I am curious to know if the machine can sustain 1 MW for a long period of time or if this machine is a circus show that can sustain 1 MW for a few seconds before having to shutdown to prevent damage.  If this machine can sustain 1 MW for days at a time, this will change the world in ways that we can't even imagine yet.  

I will leave with this one last food for thought.  Albert Einstein labored over his theory of General Relativity for many years.  The original experiments to photograph a Solar eclipse indicated that he was wrong.  It was not until many years later (14 years if my memory is reliable) that his predictions were verified to be consistent with observed data on the photographic plates of the eclipses.  This theory of General Relativity was huge because it ended Newton's reign as being the best description of gravity, a theory that lasted 200 years.  While Newton's laws and the work of Kepler were close in explaining the orbital motions of the planets, it was not perfect.  General Relativity also answered an old question of why Mercury's orbit changed/precessed by a few arc-seconds every orbit.  It is now a bed rock theory for Astrophysics and modern astronomy.  Give these scientist working on LERN the opportunity to present their work and listen to them with an open and questioning mind.
