Nuclear plants on a single charge of uranium fuel can run nonstop for 18 to 24 months, producing clean power reliably without emitting a trace of atmospheric pollution. As to nuclear waste, if all the nuclear waste produced since the dawn of the commercial nuclear age in the early 1950s were gathered together in one place, it would cover no more than a single football field to a depth of 10 yards. That is less waste volume than is produced by a typical coal plant in one hour.
