If it is only for materials study why not the Spallation Neutron Sources in Oak Ridge? Hmmmmm

Maybe, they would be used in very different material study applications, SNS is for general material studies and the VTR is intended for reactor components. The SNS is described and one of the most powerful neutron sources in the world but it is only for short duration's.

The operating floor with the control rods looks a lot like Fermi 1 did. Had a great time taking apart pieces of that place,
