If you're pulling CRDMs and somebody from Lynchburg tells you the water that ran out is condensation, they're lying. It's just what you thought it was.

If they tell you their encapsulation methods will hold any remaining liquid while the head tips over, call the deconners and stage lots of absorbent between them and the open equipment hatch.

And lastly, if anyone tells you they have a plan for inclement weather while they skid it out, get booties for everyone outside.

Not that any of this would happen again...

Good one!

There are many today that still survey trash bags and other items and fail to include the Beta component.

Our job is to detect trends and abnormalities and the Damn EXTENT. You aint got no Beta if you don't look for it!

Don't fall in the trap.

Additonally, most ion chambers are equipped with a phenolic ring and dense window to compensate for Beta such as the 2.2 MeV B from Y-90. If in doubt, check it out by contacting your instrument specialist.

Just one thought.... If you even suspect that they might drain the cavity within the next shift or so , do 2 things. 1) pay attention cause sometimes Ops lies to you     and 2) if they do start to drain the cavity without telling you, make damn sure the cavity lights are turned off before they burn up.

Make sure HEPA hoses and air samples (tygon tubing) are removed from the cavity prior to flooding up.

1) HEPA units are not the best choice for moving water.
2) If you do try to move water with them, do not pretend that there is nothing wrong with the unit. This creates problems for the unsuspecting person who uses it next!!
