   I was curiuos about this so I gave the article a quick scan. When I saw spallation and and high-energy particles I thought it might apply to nuclear but not so, its thermal. The technology is pretty cool and there might be applications later in the nuclear field in demolition or waste management/storage. Just idle speculation.

Nuclear NASCAR

I wonder about its application in buried cable replacement for aging cables.  That's something we're looking at with license extension cable inspection and testing these days.
