Two recent reports analyze the financial implications of extending operations at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant through 2030 and beyond. These studies evaluate long-term cost savings and the specific structure of the state-backed loan supporting the facility. The findings provide data on the economic viability of maintaining the site as California transitions its energy grid.
